CertainTeed Construction in Muscoy, CA | Milpitas Construction
We provide independent CertainTeed construction service across Muscoy, CA, handling roof replacement, roof repair, siding, and full bathroom remodels on homes that most contractors won’t touch because of the county permit layer. The thing that separates our CertainTeed service in San Bernardino County from everywhere else: we know San Bernardino County Land Use Services runs the show in Muscoy, not a city building department, and we plan every CertainTeed install around county inspections from day one. Call (877) 752-4194 for a free estimate on any CertainTeed project in the 92405 ZIP.
Why Muscoy Residents Choose Us for CertainTeed Service
CertainTeed makes some of the best roofing and siding products you can put on a home in the Inland Valley. We’ve installed and repaired their Landmark Pro shingles, Presidential Shake TL, Cedar Impressions siding, and AirRenew gypsum board on everything from 1960s owner-built ranch houses to newer manufactured homes on large county lots. Ken Stafford, our owner, grew up around the Bay Area and cut his teeth in construction technology at Evergreen Valley College before spending two-plus decades running ground-up builds and remodels. He’s seen enough shortcuts fail to know what actually holds up. We’re an independent CertainTeed service provider, not a manufacturer affiliate, which means we call problems straight: if a repair makes sense, we say so; if replacement is the honest answer, we tell you that too. For CertainTeed sales & service across Muscoy, one call puts a crew on it.

Common CertainTeed Construction Problems We Solve in Muscoy
- Premature granule loss and curling on Landmark Pro shingles. Muscoy’s south-facing roof slopes bake under intense inland sun all summer. Add limited attic ventilation in older homes and the shingles heat-cycle until granules slough off and edges curl. We see it constantly on pre-1980 houses where nobody ever added ridge vents.
- Cedar Impressions siding warping and caulk joint failure. Thermal expansion from direct sun plus wind-driven dust off the foothills works caulk joints loose. Owner-added second stories are the worst offenders because the framing underneath was never square to begin with.
- Presidential Shake TL cracking at the shake tabs. Santa Ana wind events will lift shake tabs just enough to stress them, and foot traffic during county inspections finishes the job. A cracked tab is an open invitation for water intrusion during flash-flood season.
- AirRenew gypsum moisture damage and mold in manufactured home bathrooms. Too many Muscoy manufactured homes have bathroom exhaust fans venting into the attic instead of through the roof. AirRenew handles moisture better than standard drywall, but it’s not magic. The venting has to be corrected or the mold comes back.
- Failed underlayment beneath otherwise good CertainTeed shingles. On older owner-built homes, the shingles often outlast the deck beneath them. We frequently find no underlayment at all, which county inspectors flag immediately when we pull permits for a re-roof.
CertainTeed Service in Muscoy: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
Here’s the part nobody tells you about owning CertainTeed products in Muscoy: because the community is unincorporated San Bernardino County, every roofing and siding permit goes through County Land Use Services, not the City of San Bernardino. That’s a completely different inspection track with different code expectations, different setback rules, and different enforcement on the many grandfathered, non-permitted structures scattered across the county lots. County inspectors routinely flag CertainTeed installations on older homes where the existing roof deck was never permitted in the first place. What that means for you as a homeowner: if a contractor assumes city rules apply and pulls the wrong permit, the job gets red-tagged and you’re paying to undo work. We’ve been through enough county inspections in Muscoy to know exactly what gets flagged before we start, so the CertainTeed roof or siding goes on right the first time and the final inspection passes clean. Ken’s rule applies here more than anywhere: Build it right the first time, the Bay Area doesn’t give you a free pass on shortcuts. Same goes for Muscoy county inspectors.
CertainTeed Models & Products We Service in Muscoy
We work on the full CertainTeed residential lineup. Landmark Pro shingles for standard re-roofs. Presidential Shake TL for the heavier, wood-shake look that holds up to wind when installed correctly. Cedar Impressions polymer siding for homes where stucco has failed or owners want a different exterior profile. AirRenew gypsum board for bathroom and laundry room remodels where moisture resistance matters. When we install new CertainTeed products, we use OEM accessories: starter strips, ridge vents, hip and ridge caps, all CertainTeed so the warranty stays intact. For repairs where OEM parts are backordered, we switch to proven aftermarket equivalents and tell you exactly what we’re using and why. No mystery parts. We keep common CertainTeed accessories stocked locally so Muscoy jobs don’t stall waiting on a truck from the distributor.

AfterCertainTeed Service Pricing in Muscoy
CertainTeed work in Muscoy carries the same material costs as anywhere in the Inland Valley, but county permitting adds a layer most city jobs don’t have. Here’s what you can expect:
| Service | Typical Range in Muscoy |
|---|---|
| Roof Replacement | $8,000 – $20,000 |
| Roof Repair | $400 – $1,800 |
| Full Bathroom Remodeling | $9,000 – $28,000 |
What drives the cost: roof size and pitch, whether the existing deck needs a permitted plywood overlay, whether we’re adding CertainTeed WinterGuard underlayment for the county’s wind and moisture requirements, and how much rotten framing we uncover once the old shingles come off. A free estimate means we come out, look at the structure, check what the county is going to require, and give you a written line-item quote. Call (877) 752-4194 to schedule yours.

FAQs – CertainTeed Construction in Muscoy
Yes. Muscoy is unincorporated, so every roofing, siding, and structural remodel permit runs through San Bernardino County Land Use Services, not the City of San Bernardino. Pulling a city permit on a Muscoy job gets you a red tag. We handle county permits, county inspections, and county code compliance on every CertainTeed installation we do here. Call (877) 752-4194 if you’re not sure which jurisdiction applies to your property.
Granule loss that early usually points to heat cycling on south-facing slopes combined with poor attic ventilation, both common in Muscoy’s older homes. The shingles bake during the day, cool at night, and the thermal stress sheds granules faster than a properly vented roof would. We’ll inspect the attic ventilation, check the deck condition, and tell you whether the fix is improved ventilation or a re-roof. Call (877) 752-4194 for an exact assessment.
Depends on how many shake tabs are cracked and whether the deck underneath held up. Santa Ana winds create uplift that cracks tabs at the stress point. A handful of damaged tabs on an otherwise sound roof can often be replaced with CertainTeed OEM shake tabs. Widespread cracking across multiple slopes usually means the roof has reached the end of its service life. We’ll give you the honest read either way.
AirRenew is a solid moisture-resistant board for bathrooms, but it only works if the exhaust fan actually vents outdoors. In Muscoy’s older manufactured homes, a lot of bathroom fans vent straight into the attic, and that moisture has to go somewhere. We’ll correct the venting while installing AirRenew so you’re not dealing with the same mold problem again in three years. Call (877) 752-4194 for a bathroom remodel estimate.
Warping on Cedar Impressions siding usually means the caulk joints have failed and the panels are expanding beyond what the install allowed for. Direct sun on west-facing walls in Muscoy will do that. The fix often involves re-securing the panels and re-caulking with a product rated for high thermal movement. We’ll inspect and tell you whether it’s a repair or a panel replacement. Estimates are free.
