Jerith Construction in San Jose, CA | Milpitas Construction
We provide independent Jerith fence, railing, and gate service across San Jose – installation, repair, post re-setting, and panel replacement on Renaissance, Ambassador, and Majestic aluminum systems, plus pool-code gates. What makes our Jerith work different here is that we understand San Jose’s infill reality: tight lots, teardown-and-rebuild pressure, and ADU conversions that force fence lines to move. Call Ken Stafford and the Milpitas Construction team at (877) 752-4194 for a free estimate on any Jerith project in the 95108, 95109, 95110, or 95111 ZIP codes.
We’re a full-scope general contractor in San Jose, which means the same crew that re-sets your Jerith posts can also handle the driveway, the patio, or the ADU that triggered the fence work in the first place. From the roofline to the kitchen counter – one contractor, one conversation.
Why San Jose Residents Choose Us for Jerith Service
We’ve installed and repaired Jerith aluminum fence, railing, and gate systems across Silicon Valley infill lots long enough to know how their brackets, posts, and powder-coat finishes actually hold up in the valley’s dry-then-wet cycle – and we do that work as an independent contractor, not as a Jerith-authorized dealer. That field history is what we bring to every San Jose property line and backyard, including Jerith service in Alum Rock. When we say a Jerith Majestic run will rack within three seasons on shallow footings, it’s because we’ve pulled those posts out of the clay ourselves.
Ken Stafford grew up near the Milpitas BART station back when that whole corridor was still mostly warehouse lots and family-owned shops. He got his foundation in construction technology at Evergreen Valley College in San Jose, picking up blueprint reading and site management before he ever swung a hammer on a paying job. Over the past two-plus decades working in and around Milpitas, Ken has built a reputation for ground-up residential builds, additions, and remodels that hold up through the Bay Area’s soil shifts and seismic quirks – no shortcuts, no callbacks. Build it right the first time – the Bay Area doesn’t give you a free pass on shortcuts.
We’re not a fence-only shop trying to upsell you on a full replacement. We’re a general contractor who treats your Jerith run as one part of a larger property plan. If your fence line needs to move because of an ADU, we can handle the whole thing under one contract – Jerith sales & service included.

Common Jerith Construction Problems We Solve in San Jose
- Powder-coat chalking and fade on south- and west-facing runs. San Jose’s long dry season bakes exposed panels for months at a stretch. We see Ambassador and Renaissance fences facing south or west that look 20 years old after six, because the powder coat has chalked to a dull gray. Then the winter rains hit any scratch or chip and start the corrosion cycle underneath. We match the original finish when we replace panels, so the repair doesn’t stand out.
- Post footings poured shallow on expansive valley clay. This is the big one in San Jose. The clay under much of the city swells and shifts with the wet-dry cycle. Shallow footings move, gates go out of square, and panels rack within a few seasons. We re-pour footings to depth rather than just re-hanging the gate and hoping.
- Rusted or galled hinges, latches, and self-closing gate springs on pool-code Jerith gates. Pool-code gates see daily use and almost never get lubricated. We replace those hinges and springs with OEM Jerith hardware where it’s still available, and quality aftermarket parts only where the original has been discontinued.
- Racked panels and misaligned gates after a teardown-and-rebuild or ADU addition. When an original Jerith run was set to a fence line that no longer matches the property line after a remodel, the whole run goes crooked. We see this constantly in San Jose’s infill neighborhoods, and the fix is re-setting to the true boundary, not just straightening panels.
- Gate posts leaning where the driveway replacement shifted the surrounding grade. A driveway replacement changes how water moves across your lot. If the new slope pushes runoff toward the fence line, the clay gets wetter on one side and the posts start leaning. We address the drainage issue along with the post, so the problem doesn’t come back.
Jerith Service in San Jose: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
San Jose is the largest city in the Bay Area and sits at the center of Silicon Valley, where construction demand is driven less by weather damage than by relentless infill and renovation pressure on a built-out, land-constrained valley floor. Teardown-and-rebuild, ADUs, and second-story additions on lots that were never meant for them – that’s the San Jose construction reality. And here’s what that means for your Jerith fence: the fence is often the first thing that has to move. From Jerith service in Communications Hill to midtown and Roosevelt Park blocks, the detached single-car garages that make the best ADU conversions sit on lots so tight that rear-yard coverage and setback limits – not the fence or the build – decide whether the project pencils out. So a Jerith gate and fence line there is often the first thing we have to re-lay around a relocated rear boundary.
Much of San Jose’s core – the 95110 through 95112 ZIPs – is older pre-war and post-war single-family stock from the 1920s through 1950s. Small lots, aging foundations, detached garages. Outer ZIPs like 95111 mix 1960s and 70s tract homes with newer infill. Every one of those eras has a different fence-line story, and we’ve worked them all. The clay doesn’t care what year your house was built.
Jerith Models & Products We Service in San Jose
We work on the full Jerith aluminum lineup you’ll find across San Jose backyards: the Renaissance series ornamental aluminum fence, the Ambassador series residential aluminum fence, the Majestic series ornamental aluminum fence with matching walk gates, and Jerith aluminum pool-code fencing with self-closing gate hardware. When a run is still serviceable, we match original Jerith profiles and colors with genuine Jerith replacement panels, pickets, posts, and gate hardware. When posts are sound and only a section is damaged, we repair the section. When footings are failing on swelling clay, we re-pour rather than sell you a whole new fence. That’s the difference between a parts-swapper and a contractor who stands behind the whole property line.

FAQs – Jerith Construction in San Jose
Yes, and in fact it’s often required. When a detached garage behind a 1940s bungalow gets converted to an ADU, the rear boundary often shifts slightly once the survey is done, and the Jerith run has to be re-laid around the true property line before the new rear wall goes up. On a 1940s bungalow block off Roosevelt Park, we re-set a rear Jerith Ambassador run to the true property line before the new ADU wall went up. We pulled the old posts, found the original footings under-poured in expansive clay, and re-set each post to depth with proper concrete before hanging a new self-closing Jerith walk gate. The gate still swings true two rainy seasons later. Call (877) 752-4194 if you’re planning an ADU and think the fence line might move – we’ll flag it early.
Most of the time it’s the footings. San Jose sits on expansive clay that swells during the winter rains and shrinks through the long dry season. If your posts were poured shallow – and many were, especially on 1940s and 50s lots – the gate post moves a fraction of an inch each cycle, and the gate starts dragging or latching wrong within a few seasons. The fix is re-pouring the footing to proper depth, not just adjusting the hinges.
The powder coat will hold, but the sun is harder on it here than in coastal cities. South- and west-facing runs in San Jose take months of direct, dry heat every year, and we regularly see chalking and fade on Ambassador and Renaissance panels that are still structurally sound. The key is addressing scratches and chips before the winter rains push moisture under the coating. We touch up and replace panels as needed, matched to the original finish.
For most standard fence replacements at or under six feet, San Jose does not require a building permit. Pool-code fencing and gates with self-closing hardware have their own code requirements, and any fence work tied to an ADU or addition will be reviewed as part of that project’s permit. We can tell you during the estimate whether your specific run needs anything from the city.
Most of the time, repair is the right call, and that’s coming from a contractor who makes more money on a full replacement. If the posts are still sound and only a section of panels is damaged, we replace that section with matched Jerith panels. If the footings are failing on swelling clay, we re-pour those posts and re-square the run. A full replacement only makes sense when the posts themselves are compromised. Call (877) 752-4194 for an honest read – we’ll tell you which way to go.
